During my 5 years of college, I went through a few tower fans in the dorm rooms and apartments I've lived in just because the temperature/air was never really ideal. I have to sleep with a fan on because I radiate a lot of heat when I sleep. I picked this up at Wal-Mart a little over 2 years ago and if it ever dies, I think I'll probably have to buy the same one! It has been on every night for the past 2 years I've owned it, and often during the day as well. This fan has proven to be durable, easy to maintain (there's no filter, so just blow the dust out and vacuum), quiet, and incredibly effective. Lasko knows how to make quality fans. I don't notice a big difference with the ionization, but I didn't necessarily buy it for an air purifier, so that's ok. I would highly recommend this fan to anyone who wants to move a good amount of air at a low sound level over a long period of time. You'll definitely get lots of use out of this wonderful, durable fan.

I bought two of these fans for $79.00 each. I used them three summers and in the summer of 2010, they both quit working, one after the other. They would still oscilate, but the motor for the actual fan blade was no longer working. I wrote to Lasko and they didn't offer anything to me. they were good fans while they lasted. Quiet and efficient at keeping the air cool, but obviously, they didn't have the quality in the motor. Three summers of use is terrible quality and reliability. I've switched to Bionaire.

I really liked this fan. It worked great. Suddenly, with no advanced warning, it wouldn't turn on. I have 2 other fans that I have been using for 10 years and are still going with no problems. I expected this to last for more than 2 years! I will not be buying any more Lasko products!
