I bought this as an affordable alternative to buying a big FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer machine. I'd read in a review that one could use it with the Ziploc Vacuum Pump Refill Bags and the FoodSaver Wide-Mouth and Regular-Mouth Jar Sealers. I don't freeze/store that much food but I wanted to buy something to vacuum seal some left overs and pre-made meals -- these two methods (Vacuum bags and Jar Sealers) would have served my needs perfectly. However, even though it does work with the Ziploc Bags, it does NOT work with the FoodSaver Jar Sealers. I've read over the comments that stated this and found no additional tips or how-to's to make this work. The picture in the Jar Sealer's item page shows it being used with the FoodSaver Hose so I bought it and crossed my fingers that this would do the trick -- but no, it still doesn't work. This handheld system is only meant to work with the bags or the plasticware. The Jar Sealers are only meant to work with the hose, and the hose is only meant to work with the full FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer machine. If I am wrong, please by all means school me!

As far as a bag vacuum sealer, this handheld is great (better than any store brand). I wish it worked with the FoodSaver Jar Sealers accessories.

I wanted a foodsaver, but didn't want to invest in one the expensive full-sized models. This is the perfect compromise. I use this unit with the ziploc bags and the deli containers. I love the FreshSaver and I would definitely recommend-it keeps my food fresh for so much longer.

I have had three full size FoodSavers and they last a couple of years and then have to be replaced. They also took up a lot of space on my counter. This little goodie does just what I need it to do - to be able to seal and get into repeatedly things like cheeses, deli meats, etc. The bags are o.k., but for me, I bought the deli containers so that I can just reuse them repeatedly, whereas the bags don't seem to work very well, if at all, after they have been washed. I did find, however, that the cheap Ziploc sealer bags that can be purchased at the grocery store, work with this unit and that is a HUGE plus.
